Wonderful class

I am glad I decided to take this course. Even though this is for me a review, the way Brigit presents the different topics is unique. With her, there is always something new to add to your knowlege of Tarot. Her advices and the experiences she shares are very valuable for anyone who works with Tarot, regardless of the "level of proficiency", so to speak. The materials provided, together with her books, are forever useful to me. Today, as part of the exercises for the class, we had to pull a card to relate it to the course. I pulled the 10 of cups (one of my favorite cards), and it makes a lot of sense. Just the first class, and I am happy to have taken the decision to join the class, because this is going to be the fulfillment of my goals, and also is going to be the closing of one cycle and the beginning of another in my relationship with Tarot. I know that I am moving from the amateur and just for fun readings to the professional, career status. This step is in total allignment with what is to come.

Tarot Class

Today I am starting a six week Tarot class. It is going to be fun.

Sacred Days of Yule Reading for 2010

This spread I found a couple of years ago at the Aecletic Tarot Forum. It is a 12 card spread that is done by drawing a card each day, from the 20th to the 31st of December. I did it using the Tarot of the 78 Doors and The Magdalene Oracle. Here is what I got for this year:

1. Mother Night of Dreams: - Dec 20th This card reminds us to look for a particular message in our dreams tonight. The ancients believed that our dreams on this night foretold some of the important events in the coming year.

The card I got in this position is the 5 of Swords.
I think this dream will provide advice for some type of fight. I always interpret this card as an internal fight of mine. Is this dream going to help me clear my mind and clear up this struggle within myself? Perhaps I need to adjust my sights a little higher than before!

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew The Secret, which is a revelation of some type to discover something about someone else that will be shocking. I think this 2 cards complement each other, because both predict some kind of trouble.

2. Yule - Winter Solstice: - Dec 21st This card shows us how best to connect to the Light within and without - it symbolizes the Birth of the Sun.

The card I got in this position is the King of Cups.
This is a card of a leader, also a card that indicates self-mastery. As I understand it, being accomplished on my emotional path will help me connect to the light. Not a small task, by the way.

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Family. I am interpreting that perhaps through my ancestors I am getting the light from inside. Also the meaning in the book talks about how the members of your family have been chosen by you to teach you lessons. I assume that these lessons are the ones that will enlighten me from the outside.

3. The Time of Beth: - Dec 22nd This card points to the inner blocks and resistance that is holding us back from following our dreams.

The card I got in this position is the Queen of Cups.
I think this card is telling me to trust my feelings and allow them to guide me in creating my dreams (from Spiritual Tarot).

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Guardian Angel. I am interpreting this one as follows: I need to trust more in the presence of spiritual beings who are there to help me and guide me in my dreams.
Conclusion: My inner blocks and resistance have to do with self-trust. Nothing new, as a matter of fact.

4. Hopi Time of Renewal Dec 23rd This card indicates the best way for us to seek purification and renewal, and to build tolerance for others.

The card I got in this position is the Star.
It is very interesting that I got this card in this position, since it is a card of universal guidance (from Spiritual Tarot). I interpret this card as an advice to evaluate myself attuning with the higher consciousness as a way of purification and renewal. Also this card indicates a preparation to receive and participate in some type of healing and renewing directions.

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew The Resurrection. This word says it all: starting a new life.

5. Feast of Mothers, Christmas Eve: - Dec 24th This card shows how we can connect with the spirits of our ancestors for communion and to ask for wisdom and guidance. It is also a time for Christians to reflect on the birth of Christ.

The card I got in this position is the 3 of Wands.
It is very in line with its position in this spread. From Spiritual Tarot I get: "Seek inner guidance to align your priorities with higher will..." Pretty obvious.

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Divine Order. This card goes in the direction that there is a reason and a purpose for everything in the Universe, and I understand that the way I will get connected spiritually is by accepting that divine order. I need to get a higher perspective of things.

6. Festival of Life, Christmas: - Dec 25th This card shows us how to connect directly with Spirit.

The card I got in this position is the 8 of Wands.
This card really confuses me in this position. This is a card of fast activity and I do not see the relationship to connecting with Spirit. In the book I have been using, I found something that may help: "Clearly delineate your purpose and goals. Set some priorities". Is this card telling me that connecting directly with Spirit should be my priority now?

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Illumination. Definitely, this card is appropriate: connecting with Spirit will give me Illumination. But the thing is the card is supposed to guide me on how to connect with Spirit. Well, according to the meaning in the book, this card is about unblocking creativity and expressing freely any feelings. It says: "Self-expression heals and liberate you. It illuminates your mind and your heart, all you need is to let your feelings come through". It is interesting how here the process went reverse. The card is equivalent to the position, but the meaning of the card shows the way.

7. Yuletide, Kwanzaa: - Dec 26th This card shows us how to express nurturance, to attend to our families and to express the protective energy within us towards others.

The card I got in this position is the The Fool.
In Spiritual Tarot, the key phrase for this card is: “the limitless energy of spirit”. I interpret this card in this position as follows: To achieve all the points present in the position, e.g. express nurturance, I just need to be connected with spirit and follow my intuition, listen to my unconscious part. Also, take more risks!

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew The Real You. Is this a joke from the Universe? Is this card telling me that the “real me” is The Fool? According to the meaning in the LWB, I need to “let go of all I think is right or wrong…” I need to let “my true nature re-emerge […] to feel inspired and discover a new way of looking at life”. I conclude: this new way of looking at life is the way of The Fool. Uhm! Interesting, isn’t it!

8. Birth of Freyja: - Dec 27th This card points to issues of love, luck, artistic and creative expression and female wisdom.

The card I got in this position is the The Devil.
Uf! When I saw this card in this position I did not like it at all. As a matter of fact, this is a card I always dislike. Anyhow, this is my interpretation with a little help from Spiritual Tarot. The key phase for this card is: “acknowledging your hidden recesses.” I need to “examine areas of my life in which I feel ‘imprisoned’.” I see the need to do some shadow work during all the year to come in some of these issues. This card is so accurate at this point in my life that is scary.

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Revelation. From the LWB first line of this card: “You will soon find the answer you seek”. To me is sooooo clear! By doing shadow work (The Devil), the solution to these issues will make themselves clear to me.

9. Feast of Alcyone: - Dec 28th This card gives us a personal inner message - one that speaks directly to our heart and spirit.

The card I got in this position is the 7 of Swords.
At the beginning I was definitely puzzled about this card in this position. A personal inner message that has to do with being a “rogue”? Then I found the light. Spiritual Tarot tells me “seek a change in consciousness”. There is a need “to clearly define the higher purpose of an endeavor”. Oh, boy! How accurately this card is!

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Mythic Reality. The entire message from the LWB makes a lot of sense, but there is a message (which most of the other cards don’t have) that says: “All becomes clear when I view it from a higher perspective”. No need to say anything else!

10. Day of Nymphs - Dec 29th This card encourages us to connect to our playful side, our inner child and how best to cultivate this aspect of ourselves.

The card I got in this position is The World.
First of all, in the tarot deck I am using, this card depicts the birthing of a new baby. Is this my inner child that is trying to emerge again? On the other side, the interpretation from Spiritual Tarot talks about integration and wholeness, and its key phrase is “essence of one spirit”. I understand that is by the emergence of my Self that I will connect to my playful side and my inner child, which, as a matter of fact, had let me know several times that he/she needs attention. Voila!

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Little Children. I was amazed to see a card that directly names children in this position. It certainly goes hand in hand with it. The message is about spontaneity and expressing oneself freely in a childlike way. What else?

11. Day of Rest: - Dec 30th This card shows us how to walk our path in a relaxed and confident way....with the ability to deal with stressful situations in a philosophical, detached way.

The card I got in this position is the 10 of Swords.
Once again, in the tarot deck I am using, this card depicts a man having some type of acupuncture treatment. The first thing that came to my mind was that massage, aromatherapy and other methods of relaxation and healing will help me deal with the everyday stress. Actually I am already doing that. On the other side, the interpretation from Spiritual Tarot talks about finding our own path of enlightenment and giving up old patterns of behaviors that are limiting. Does this mean that to be relaxed and confident and unstressed I need to revise my old values and start afresh? On the other hand, the key phrase for this card is “gathering my reserves”. So, only by putting together all my strengths I will be able to be relaxed in life? I had not thought of this before.

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Miracles. I see here a little bit of humor: Only a miracle will keep me relaxed and confident in dealing with stressful situations. Now, I know that the miracle can happen if I let it happen, and the card advices to work with determination, commitment and perseverance to achieve any goal big or small.

12. New Year's Eve, Hogmanay - Dec 31st This card shows us how to release the old and let in the new. This relates to both our external lives and our inner being.

The card I got in this position is Death.
I would say that in this position this card is the most adequate one of the entire tarot deck. Death is a card of transformation, of letting go of the old to allow the new to get in. I just could not be more amazed when I saw it. To go a little deeper on its meaning, from From Spiritual Tarot its key phrase is “new opportunities and transformation”, which is most appropriate and in synchronicity with the end/beginning of a year. “It’s time to let go of patterns, actions, habits, or attitudes once useful, but now outdated.” So it is necessary that I take the responsibility of making space to the new by modifying anything that doesn’t work anymore in my life.

From the Magdalene Oracle I drew Colors. This card confuses me a little bit in this position. The meaning from the LWB is about how colors affect and reflect our mood and our energies. It also provides meditation with colors. I think that perhaps I drew this card because through observing my color tendencies and meditating on the different colors I will be able to transform my energy for the New Year.

Old Me/New Me Reading 2011

I found this spread by Diane Wilkes and decided to give it a try this year. Here is the link for the spread:

http://www.tarotpassages.com/Pages2/2003jansprd.htm

Now, this is what I got:
Card 1: What negative quality do I wish to transform in the coming year? Six of Wands
Card 2: What positive quality do I wish to nurture in the coming year? Ten of Wands
Card 3: What new energy do I wish to inculcate in the coming year? Queen of Wands
Card 4: What story do I need to tell this year? Two of Swords.
Card 5: What aspiration would I be wise to conceive? Five of Swords.

General Considerations: No Major Arcana cards which means I am acquiring or assimilating Minor Arcana experiences this year to prepare me for future transformations. There are no Cups of Pentacles. Does this mean that there is an imbalance or lacking? I understand that given the questions of the spread, these two suits may not have any relevance. The abundance of Wands and Swords may indicate that my perspective is from the energy of these two suits. This makes me conclude that the approach I am taking to these questions are spiritual in nature (wands) and that I want the truth behind this topic.

Now for the individual cards.
Card 1: The negative quality I want to transform is lack of confidence/ low self esteem. Or is it a false pride, feeling superior type of issue?
Card 2: This is a card that is always related with a burden that is too heavy, but this is a position for a positive quality. I understand that the positive quality is related to accepting the responsibility and have the perseverance and the determination to carry on the task, no matter how heavy it may be.
Card 3: The energy is definitely feminine. Using the intuitive part of myself. This queen's energy is the one of a woman who has confidence and knows where she is going and what to do to get there. Freedom of expression without considering the opinion of other is also indicated by this card.
Card 4: This card confuses me in this position. Is the story I need to tell this year about removing the blindold? Do I need to integrate the unconscios with the conscious in order to take wise decisions? Um!
Card 5: Another puzzle! Would it be that my aspiration for this year is to win the battle no matter what? Should I put myself first in any endeavor I am going to be dealing with?

Once in a Very Blue Moon Spread

January 1st, 2010. Blue Moon of December 31st, 2009

Deck: Universal Tarots

Card One: What about me is unique and rare?

10 of wands: This card signifies in many instances a burden, an overloan on your shoulders. But as a response to the question, the first thing to get to my mind was my capacity for multitasking. Thas is for me routine. From other sources, I have learned that "multitasking" is the way of 2010 at universal level, so I was not surprised at all to see this card. After consulting other books of tarot, I found interesting information related to this card: "take time for your personal journey" (from Tarot Bible). This is also related for my plans for the future in regard to spiritual activities.

Card Two: What unusual subject(s) should I focus on in the coming month?

3 of coins: This card is related to work, with skills. The focus this month is related to my skills and abilities. I interpretet it, to follow up with the same topic, with the fact that I need to use my knowledge and spiritual gift for selfguide and to plan my future in a couple of years. "Being aware of your potentials" one of the intepretations given in the Tarot Bible. It certainly confirms my interpretation. Also "do work that is satisfaying". That is why I am working in this blog.

Card Three: What should I do that is out of the ordinary this month?

The King of Swords: This king brings intellectual energy. He is articulated, analytic and assertive. That is the way I have to behave this month. The Tarot Bible says“Tap into your mind power”,  "cut through confusion and mental fog”.  In other words, it is absolutely necessary to think and plan first, and later have the discipline to implement the plans. It is important to stay focus and follow the plans.

Card Four: What message does this Blue Moon have for me?

The king of wands: This king's energy is one of self assurance and sometimes, even self-suficient. The message for me is absolutely clear: I need to start believing in myself and my capacities. From Tarot Bible I get: “Believe in yourself!” This king is a master in some sort of art or job. He is a risk-taker, and does not hesitate to risk anything in order to do what he consider his passion. His intuition and knowlege are his guide to achieve what he wants, without paying attention to the opinions and comments of others.
Interpretation:

* Two court cards. Both kings. This is a month to project myself in a different way, with the characteristics and attittude indicated by the two cards. It is interesting that are male energies, more active. Definitely, this reading is directed toward my job and my plans for the future in this field. It is totally consistent with the information obtained through other sources.
*To summarize: Given my ability to multitask, and making an effort to dedicate some time to follow my personal, spiritual path, I should focus on my spiritual skills in order to work on something that satisfies me and makes me happy. The energies of the two kings suggest that I use my analytic capacity and my discipline to achieve my goals. Also I need to trust myself, listen to my intuition and use my knowledge and experience to move ahead with a project that reflects my passion, even if its necessary to take some risks.
